On the nose, Yoichi 10 Year Old offers a fresh and herbaceous profile characterized by complex aromas of dried fruits, ripe banana, and malted cereals, which blend harmoniously with subtler notes of black pepper and peat smoke. On the palate, this whisky is both lively and velvety, with intense flavors of custard cream, smoked oak, and an elegant hint of peat that extends into a long and warm finish, marked by spicy and woody notes in total balance.
This single malt is crafted from a blend of malt whiskies distilled using traditional methods such as direct heating with charcoal fire, brought back after Masataka Taketsuru's stay in Scotland, then aged for at least 10 years in oak barrels.
After a seven-year hiatus due to insufficient stocks of old malts, Yoichi 10 Year Old makes its grand return in late 2022 / early 2023 and can proudly boast of perfectly combining Scottish tradition and Japanese finesse to offer a new, rich, and complex tasting experience.
